Follow up to Blood Clot Post

Try number two at writing a blog. After a 6 day stay at a local hospital in Anchorage, Kikkan was discharged yesterday. After returning to hospital early last week it was determined that her clot had returned larger than the one previously removed two weeks earlier. Heads up to the athlete/endurance world.

This is my first attempt ever at a blog post and I am going to use my fiancees post from another site. It is an important post as it was just discovered that she had a massive blood clot in her left leg. I mention this because she is a current World Cup cross-country skier with the US ski team and a few of the environmental factors that led to the clot were from her athletic lifestyle i.e. travel - long periods of immobility, and dehydration. envious!! Powder in Alaska!! Sweet! I did my first race of the season last week the first of the Gutbusters 11.4km and won so my running is going better than I thought. Other than that just kicking it in true dirt style!!

Hi Jeff, yes, please do post that warning. It is a very good reminder to a lot of athletes/ppl who travel frequently.
I think we often feel invincible, but there are some serious risks that we take for granted.

I am very glad to hear that she is doing better and that you guys are willing to share the experience with others as a learning tool, very cool.

Howdy Jeff, just saw your post on Kel's wall-sounds like a fun day.There must be some gnarly (yes, gnarly) adventures to be had up there, definitely jealous.
I am just sorting out my stuff here before heading down to Boulder for the summer in about 10 days.
I can't wait to get back to the mountains!!!!

Hey Jeff, I just read about Kikkan's surgery, sorry to hear about the scare, but glad to read that she is doing well. Wish her a speedy recovery.
