Smartwool seems to be pretty ideal, although I have also been quite happy with the Brooks HVAC Glycerin sock for almost any condition. Winter on the wet coast is most definitely a woolen running sock.

Smartwool socks are amazing.
The Brooks adrenaline socks are nice and comfy too.

Thanks for starting this thread, I need some new trail socks. I really loved my first pair of balega's?, so I bought three more pair. Unfortunately, the toes got big holes in them after only a few wears....

I like the thinner smartwool ones for summer trail races, but found after lots of wear over a couple of years they too got holes. I definitely got my money's worth, but it happened over time. I have yet to have a pair of my Brooks socks do that, but they have had less wear on a day to day basis.

Thanks Brad,I will check them out. Yeh,getting holes after a year is ok, but not after a few wears....Eli says hi....
